پیگیری پیشنهاد و ابتکار شماری از ایرانیان مقیم ژنو سبب شده است تا طرح ساخت باغ ایرانی به عنوان پارک عمومی جدی تر در دستور ساخت قرار گیرد تا سوییسی ها نیز شاهد نمادی از فرهنگ کهن ایران زمین باشند.

روزنامه سوییسی لوتام در مقاله "ژنو دارای باغ پارسی می شود" نوشت: تا پیش از این باغ فرانسوی، انگلیسی و ژاپنی را شنیده بودیم ولی تاکنون چه کسی هوای معطر باغ های پارسی را استشمام کرده است؟
نویسنده این مقاله نوشت: هنگامی که طراحان این ایده در باره باغ ایرانی صحبت می کند، دنیایی از احساسات یعنی صدای آب، آواز بلبل، عطر گل سرخ، طعم انار و ... آفریده می شود.
این طرح درست در سال 2007 اندکی پیش از آغاز بحران مالی و اقتصادی اندک اعلام شد و اگر این بحران بوجود نیامده بود ، کلنگ ساخت آن ماه ژوئن امسال زده می شد. پس از ارائه این پیشنهاد، طی کنفرانسی در موزه تاریخ و هنر ژنو جزئیات آن مطرح شد و درباره در اختیار قرار دادن 1900 متر مربع زمین در پارک فرانشیز بحث هائی صورت گرفت.
مدیریت فضای سبز شهر ژنو نیز تاکید کرده است اگر هزینه ها از سوی بخش خصوصی تامین شود، از تاسیس باغ ایرانی حمایت می کند. هزینه اجرای این طرح حدود یک میلیون و 280 هزار دلار برآورد می شود که از مالیات استانی و فدرال نیز معاف می باشد.
به گفته فعالان این طرح، تاکنون فقط بخش کوچکی از این مبلغ جمع آوری شده است و برای همین از جامعه ایرانیان نیز تقاضای کمک نموده است. طراحان، هدف خود را از این اقدام را ارائه تصویر مثبت و واقعی از ایران عنوان می کنند تا مردم سوییس نیز راغب به حمایت از آن شوند. طرح این باغ از سوی چندین آرشیتکت از ژنو ، تهران و رم ارائه گردیده و در آن به تاریخ و هنر چند هزار ساله ایران نیز توجه شده است.
