داراب دیبا معتقد است: هدف اصلی بنیاد معماری میرمیران از راه‌اندازی مسابقه‌ی معماری میرمیران، تاکید کردن بر چهار عنصر آیین و فرهنگ جاویدان ایران، شناسایی معماری جهان، کمال‌گرایی و حس زیبایی‌شناسی در نسل جوان است.

این عضو هیات داوری جایزه معماری میرمیران، با اشاره به زمینه‌های شکل‌گیری جایزه معماری میرمیران در چند سال اخیر گفت: بی‌شک زنده‌یاد سید هادی میرمیران در پَسِ معماری معاصر ایران فردی شاخص، باسابقه و صاحب جایگاهی ویژه بود.
او ادامه داد: میرمیران قبل از هر چیز این توانایی را داشت تا میراث جاویدان و ازلی ایران زمین را با معماری به زندگی معاصر ما وصل نماید، در حالی که این اتفاق در سابقه‌ی معماری ایران خیلی نیفتاده است. برخی از معماران در مسیر کاری خود به دنبال تقلید از گذشتگان بودند و عده‌ای نیز به میراث و فرهنگ ایرانی کاری نداشتند و تنها به دستاوردهای غرب تکیه کردند.
این مدرس دانشگاه متذکر شد: غرب‌زدگی در 100 سال اخیر معماری ایران همواره مشاهده شده است،اما من قصد ندارم بد و خوب این موضوع را نقد کنم و نمی‌خواهم نگاه منفی به این عرصه داشته باشم اما به شخصه معتقدم که تنها تاکید بردستاوردهای غرب باعث می‌شود تا ما نگاه به خویشتن خود را به مرور از دست بدهیم، درحالی که زنده‌یاد میرمیران همان قدر که به جهان و معماری آن نگاه داشت معماری سرزمین خود را هم به‌خوبی می‌شناخت.
دیبا در ادامه با اشاره به دیگر ویژگی‌های شاخص زنده‌یاد میرمیران تصریح کرد: او به‌خوبی معماری را بلد بود و خلوصی که در معماری به‌کار می‌برد از معماری گذشته‌ی ایران کسب کرده بود. او قدرت هندسه، فضا و همه چیز را به‌خوبی می‌دانست و از این جهت معمار توانایی محسوب می‌شد.
این معمار دیگر ویژگی‌ میرمیران را کمال‌گرایی دانست و افزود: او همیشه دنبال کمال بود و این ویژگی کمیاب و نادری در میان آدم‌هایی است که در کنار ما کار می‌کنند. امروزه معماران برجسته و موفق اطراف ما زیاد هستند، اما نمونه‌ی میرمیران که دنبال کمال‌گرایی بود به واقع برای ما نادر است.
او آخرین ویژگی بارز میرمیران را حس زیبایی‌شناسی این هنرمند دانست و گفت: در رشته‌ی معماری ذوق هنری جایگاه ویژه‌ای دارد و اگر این ذوق نباشد کارها در حد متوسط باقی می‌ماند. به همین دلیل هم که وقتی زنده یاد میرمیران بار سفر را بست ،همه به این فکر افتادیم که بنیاد میرمیران را با دنبال کردن این چهار ویژگی در میان نسل جوان راه‌اندازی کنیم.
دیبا با تاکید بر اهمیت توجه به نسل جوان گفت: کشورهای همسایه ما هیچ‌گاه قابل قیاس با نسل پویای کشورمان که مدام در حال حرکت و پیشرفت هستند، نبودند و از این جهت آنها همواره گامی عقب‌تر از ما ایستاده‌اند. در حالی که امروزه در ایران‌زمین نسل جوان با یک موج از هوشمندی وارد شده و قرار است آینده را درست کند.
او تصریح کرد: ما امروز در برابر نسل جوانی هستیم که این پتانسیل را برای پروبال دادن به معماری دارد. این موج جوان برای ادامه‌ی مسیرش نیاز به الگو دارد و از آنجا که سیستم کارفرمایی در ایران خیلی به جوانان اعتماد نمی‌کند، پس ما این وظیفه را داریم تا با راه‌اندازی چنین مسابقه‌ای این توانایی و پتانسیل را نشان دهیم و از سوی دیگر توقع داریم تا دولت و دستگاه‌های اجرایی به این نسل شکوفاشده پروبال دهد تا آنها دست به کار زنند.
او گفت: ما امیدوار بودیم با راه‌اندازی چنین مسابقه‌ای نسل جوانی که شناخته می‌شد یک موقعیت و بستر پیدا کند و به دولت و ارگان‌های مرتبط معرفی شود، زیرا این نسل و برگزیدگان این مسابقه چهار ویژگی بارز فرهنگ و وطن‌پرستی، جهان‌شناسی، زیبایی‌شناسی و توانایی اجرایی را دارند.
عضو هیات داوری سپس به آثار ارسال‌شده در دوره‌های مختلف این جایزه و چهارمین دوره‌ی آن اشاره کرد و افزود: در این دوره حدود 100 اثر دریافت کردیم. کارها به واقع لذت‌بخش بودند و قدرت تخیل این نسل جوان معمار برای ما حیرت‌انگیز بود. این نکته نشان می‌دهد که نسل جوان پتانسیل‌های هنری شناوری هستند که اگر به موقع حمایت نشوند بی‌شک سرافکنده خواهند شد.

دیبا خاطرنشان کرد: ما امروز این نسل را شناسایی کرده‌ایم و آثار آنها را از طریق مجله‌ی معماری شهرسازی هربار معرفی می‌کنیم، به‌طوری که در حیطه‌ی بین‌المللی نیز تمام کارشناسان حیرت‌زده‌ی این پتانسیل بالا هستند. در واقع ما تلاش داریم تا به جهانیان ثابت کنیم که جوانان ما چنین توانایی بزرگی دارند و اگر تا امروز نتوانسته‌ایم خود را در عرصه‌های جهانی مطرح کنیم به‌دلیل این است که بستر‌سازی لازم صورت نگرفته است.
این معمار در بخش دیگری از سخنان خود در پاسخ به چگونگی حمایت‌های بخش دولتی از این مسابقه و برگزیدگان آن گفت: از آنجا که مسابقه‌ی معماری میرمیران کاری فرهنگی است، لذا ما توقع داریم تا مدیران برنامه‌ریزی کنند، پول خرج کنند، جایزه دهند و از این نسل حمایت کنند. درحالی که در عمل متاسفانه هیچ اتفاقی نمی‌افتد و اولویت دولتمردان و ارگان‌های دولتی ذیربط برای این حوزه نیست.
او اضافه کرد: امروز اگر امیدی برای ما وجود دارد در بخش خصوصی است، زیرا در بخش دولتی موانع بروکراتیک و دیوان‌سالاری به‌قدری است که جوانان بعد از مدتی از ادامه‌ی راه باز می‌مانند و امیدشان را به بخش خصوصی متوجه می‌کنند. از این جهت است که امروز بنیاد معماری میرمیران مسابقه‌ی مرتبط با آن و حتی جوایز آن از سوی بخش خصوصی تامین می‌شود و جوانان به خوبی متوجه شدند که بخش خصوصی راهگشاست.
او هم‌چنین درباره‌ی چگونگی انتخاب موضوعات این مسابقه هم‌چون «نور و معماری» و «آب و معماری» توضیح داد: معماری یک هنر است و اگر معمار، نقاش و عکاس قابلیت‌های نور را دریافت نکرده باشد ،نمی‌تواند گامی روبه جلو بردارد، حتی بحث نور در مسائل معنوی و دینی نیز بسیار مورد توجه قرار گرفته است. وقتی فردی در تاریکی سیر کند در قهقرا و نادانی خود زندگی می‌کند، ولی نور می‌تواند جرقه‌ای از حقیقت و معنای واقعی زندگی را برای او نمایان کند.
دیبا متذکر شد:از سوی دیگر نور در بسیاری از معماری‌های ایرانی نیز به شکل جدی مورد توجه قرار گرفته است و ما نیز استفاده‌ی فوق‌العاده‌ای از آن در این مسابقه کرده‌ایم و با آثار برجسته‌ای از سوی هنرمندان جوان مواجه شدیم که همراه با توضیحات آنها در قالب یک کتاب منتشر شده است.
او ادامه داد: امسال هم «آب» به عنوان یکی از عناصر جاویدان معماری مورد توجه قرار گرفت. کشور ایران که کشوری کویری و خشک است همواره به آب به عنوان یک مفر آرامش و آرزو نگاه کرده است و این عنصر در بسیاری از بناهای معماری هم‌چون باغ فین و یا باغ شازده به‌شکلی زیبا به‌کار گرفته شده است.البته بسیاری از هنرمندانی که در این مسابقه شرکت کرده بودند برروی معماری ایرانی و برخی نیز بر روی معماری جهان و دستاوردهای آن در این حوزه‌ها پرداخته‌اند، اما نتایج خیلی خوب بود و آینده‌ی روشنی از دل آن برمی‌آید.
او در پایان به نگاه همه‌جانبه‌ی مسابقه‌ی معماری میرمیران پرداخت و افزود: معماری باید با تمامی هنرها در ارتباط باشد و این نگاه همه‌جانبه برای جایزه میرمیران به قدری اهمیت دارد که ما در داوری‌ها از هنرمندی هم‌چون عباس کیارستمی بهره‌ می‌گیریم تا بتوانیم این هدف و نیت فرهنگی خود را به شکل درستی منتقل کنیم.
مراسم اهدای جوایز میرمیران روز چهارشنبه اول اردیبهشت ماه برگزار می‌شود.
